Doctor on Demand Now Offers Psychiatry

As of Aug. 1, our telehealth partner, Doctor on Demand, now offers TRICARE West Region beneficiaries access to network psychiatrists. Offering urgent care and mental health care services, Doctor on Demand connects patients with licensed providers, psychologists and now psychiatrists through virtual appointments. As a reminder, we continue to partner with Telemynd for telemental health care. TRICARE beneficiaries can access licensed psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, and therapists from the convenience of home. Learn more at www.telemynd.com/hnfs.

And, we continue to list providers who offer telemedicine in our online Network Provider Directory. Select “Telemedicine” to get started.

If you have providers in your practice you would like listed as a telemedicine provider, submit an updated TRICARE Provider Group Roster. (If you use a different template, please indicate on it who offers telemedicine services.

While TRICARE is temporarily allowing for audio-only telehealth, at this time, directory search results will only include providers who offer video telemedicine services. As such, please only identify on your roster those providers who offer video telehealth.

TRICARE benefits

TRICARE covers the use of telemedicine to provide medically and psychologically necessary health care. Some exclusions apply. Find complete benefit details on our Telemedicine Services benefit page.

TRICARE continues to waive copayments or cost-shares for covered telemedicine care by network providers during the COVID-19 stateside public health emergency. Find complete benefit details on our Telemedicine Services benefit page. TRICARE policy outside of COVID-19 can be found in the TRICARE Policy Manual, Chapter 7, Section 22.1.

Referrals

Referral requirements for covered telemedicine services are the same as those for in-person visits. Active duty service members need a referral for urgent care and mental health care services. TRICARE Prime active duty family members and retirees do not need a referral or authorization for most outpatient urgent and mental health care, including visits through Doctor on Demand and Telemynd.
