Improving Patient Safety
Your Role
Improving patient safety has become a national initiative. Patients can ensure a safer experience with the health care system by being involved and informed about their treatment. This also requires continuous learning and constant, clear communication of information between providers, organizations and patients. In working together, we can do better. Everyone has a role in improving patient safety.
Health Net Federal Services' Role
Health Net Federal Services, LLC, (HNFS) values the importance of sharing information with providers to improve patient safety. Our dedicated Clinical Quality Management (CQM) Department aims to improve the quality of health care by reducing medical errors and increasing patient safety, promoting health, preventing disease or injury and promoting provider and beneficiary educational activities.
Potential quality issues (PQIs) are referred to the CQM Department for review. In an effort to reduce unfavorable variation and promote favorable outcomes, CQM may request corrective action plans and follow up to:
- ensure the interventions are implemented and remain effective,
- conduct studies and/or quality improvement projects on HEDIS measures or AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators,
- use administrative data monitors to enable a more comprehensive view of PQIs and patient safety issues, and
- expand our provider and beneficiary educational initiatives.
