Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome Treatment
Treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome is a limited benefit. The following may be included in the treatment of OSA syndrome:
OSA splints require medical necessity review and either proven history of CPAP use or documentation with a formal OSA diagnosis.
Note: A TRICARE-authorized dentist may order OSA splints.
Pillar palatal implant system, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the tongue base and hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HGNS) for the treatment of OSA are considered unproven and are not covered benefits.
