Submission of Applied Behavior Analysis Provider Rosters: Change in Process

Effective May 13, 2019, MHN, LLC (MHN), a sister company to Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS) will no longer be managing the TRICARE West mental health provider network, which includes applied behavior analysis (ABA) providers. Providers currently contracted with MHN as a TRICARE provider will see the TRICARE portion of their MHN agreement transition to HNFS, and providers new to the TRICARE network will work directly with HNFS for contracting and credentialing.
Beginning May 13, 2019, HNFS invites ABA provider groups who have 20 or more providers to credential to use the TRICARE Provider Group Roster template. The TRICARE ABA-specific roster template currently accepted by MHN will be discontinued. Groups with less than 20 providers should complete a Provider Information Form for each individual provider.
If you started the credentialing process with MHN prior to May 13, 2019, you do not need to resubmit anything to HNFS. HNFS will credential through completion any providers who submitted TRICARE applications to MHN prior to May 13. If you are contracted for commercial and TRICARE business, MHN will continue to process the commercial portion of your application.
All ABA providers and behavior technicians (BTs) can be submitted on the TRICARE Provider Group Roster. As this roster varies slightly from the ABA-specific version, please note the following:
- Degree – For BTs, indicate the degree as “RBT,” even if the BT is certified by another board.
- License Information – If the provider is certified rather than licensed, list the certification information.
- Medicare Number – Leave blank. This is not applicable for ABA providers and BTs.
- Is Provider Accepting New Patients – Indicate with a “Y” for ABA providers who have patient availability.
Please do not include ABA providers or BTs located in TRICARE East Region states. Email completed rosters to HNFS at hnfsT2017ProvRel@Healthnet.com, and allow up to 90 days from the date HNFS receives a completed application for credentialing of ABA supervisors and assistant behavior analysts, and up to 21 days for loading of certified BTs. HNFS will issue a determination letter to the credentialing point of contact for each practitioner once the credentialing process has completed.
On or after May 13, 2019, ABA providers can check credentialing status using the Check Credentialing Status public tool on our website. (You will need to enter in each provider's individual NPI when using this tool.) For BTs who are certified, rather than credentialed, log in online to access XPressClaim® (click on “Submit a Claim”) to verify the BT is listed. Individual BTs will not display in the TRICARE West Region Network Provider Directory.
