Autism Care Demonstration Update: Annual Provider Training

Tuesday, December 28, 2021

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, all autism corporate services providers (ACSPs) and applied behavior analysis (ABA) sole providers participating in the Autism Care Demonstration (ACD) will be required to complete ACD training annually per the guidelines outlined in the TRICARE Operations Manual, Chapter 18, Section 4. You are receiving this notice as an identified point of contact for your practice. In early January, Health Net Federal Services, LLC will assign ACSPs/sole providers the training module and provide a unique username and password to ensure you get credit for completion.

What does the training cover? The training provides a comprehensive overview of the ACD – from eligibility and diagnosis to authorizations and medical documentation requirements, and claims, billing and audits.

Who is required to take it? ACSPs and sole providers are required to take this training; however, we encourage the module to be shared with all ABA providers and staff. In addition to the link provided in your assignment email, we will post the training module and a printable version that can be accessed by all at www.tricare-west.com/go/ACD-provider by Jan. 1, 2022.

How will I know when my training has been assigned? HNFS will begin assigning the training in batches throughout the first quarter of 2022. Look for an email from “TRICARE-West Online Learning” that will include a link to the training module and specific instructions, including the due date.

How do I log in to the training to get credit?  Prior to receiving the training assignment, you will receive an email from “TRICARE-West Online Learning” with your unique username and password. Save this email! You’ll need these log in credentials to ensure you get credit for the training.

How long will I have to complete the training? What happens if I don’t complete it? Once assigned, you will have 90 days to complete the training. You can stop and save your progress, if needed. Providers who miss the 90-day deadline will be subject to a 10% penalty which will be applied to all claims billed under your Tax ID (including all practice locations) beginning on day 91. This penalty will be remedied once the training is complete; however, the penalty will remain in place for the days that were out of compliance. We will send reminder emails to help you stay on track.

Important: Ensure your training assignment reaches you. If you need to update your email address or delegate the training to someone else in your provider group, please email ACDNetwork@hnfs.com or contact our ACD customer service line at 1-844-866-WEST (follow the prompts and select option 5).
