Migraine Treatment

Botox injections for the treatment of chronic migraines are a limited benefit. See Botox injections.

The following services/procedures are not a covered benefit for the treatment of migraines:

  • Occipital nerve stimulation
  • Sphenopalatine ganglion block
  • Histamine desensitization therapy
  • Deep brain neurostimulation
  • Cryoablation of the occipital nerve
  • Spinal cord stimulation
  • Trigger point injections
  • Microcurrent Electrical Therapy (MET), Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) or any therapy that uses the non-invasive application of low levels of microcurrent stimulation to the head by means of external electrodes
