Emergency Procedures in Place in California
Thursday, November 15, 2018
Due to the wildfires burning in Northern and Southern California, TRICARE has put in place emergency procedures for prescription refills and primary care manager (PCM) referrals in Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
- A primary care manager (PCM) referral waiver is in place from Nov. 9 through Dec. 8, 2018. During this time frame, TRICARE Prime beneficiaries will not be charged Point of Service if they seek care from a network or TRICARE-authorized provider for specialty care without a referral.*
- Emergency prescription refill procedures are in place from Nov. 9 through Nov. 18, 2018. This means beneficiaries can get retail prescriptions refilled before the 30-day refill date. To get an emergency refill, beneficiaries can take their prescription bottle to any TRICARE network pharmacy. Beneficiaries and providers can use the network pharmacy locator or call Express Scripts at 1-877-363-1303 to locate a network pharmacy.
Time frames may be extended or changed based on wildfire activity.
Please visit www.tricare.mil for the latest information.
*At this time, the PCM waiver does not apply to inpatient care, applied behavior analysis (ABA) or Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) services.
