Processing Timelines and Notification

  • Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS) is unable to access referrals within the military health system.
  • Routine requests are processed within 2–5 business days of receiving the complete request from the provider.
  • Urgent requests are processed in an expedited manner for care that needs to be delivered within 72 hours.
  • Beneficiaries can choose to receive email or text notifications with links to newly processed authorizations or referrals through a secure inbox. To sign up for email or text messages, log in to our website with your DoD Self-Service log-on or your individual log-on and password and edit your account settings.
  • Beneficiaries must log in at www.tricare-west.com to view authorizations, referrals and individual Explanation of Benefits statements. HNFS posts these documents electronically to the Secure Inbox where they can viewed online and/or printed.
